Sustainability

We look after our planet

Our commitment

At Tribe, we believe our impact goes beyond making excelent products. We are committed to making a positive impact on the environment, society and the communities we work with.

Sustainability is one of the pillars of Tribe's commitment. We want to play an active role in creating value for society, contributing to the adoption of more responsible behaviours, reducing environmental impact and maximising positive social impact.

For the second year in a row, in 2024 and 2025, we were selected as “Escolha Sustentável” (Sustainable Choice), in Portugal, confirming our commitment to responsible practices.

Social and Environmental

Project in Amazonia - COOPERAMOR Cooperative

The Island of Palheta (Pará, Brazil) covers an area of 310 hectares and is home to around 40 families. It is covered with native vegetation typical of the region, with the açaí palm being the most prominent, and its harvest is the community's main source of income.
The income from the sale of açaí is still low due to the low productivity of the native açaizal and the lack of knowledge on how to properly manage the forest, as well as the lack of organisation of the harvesting process and access to marketing channels.
The COOPERAMOR cooperative was set up by the island's inhabitants to promote, through education, the proper management of the açaizal, increasing its productivity and the quality of the fruit, and thus the income of the community. The partnership between Tribe and Eco Foods supports the cooperative's initiative by guaranteeing the direct purchase of the fruit, without intermediaries, which gives the cooperatives a better profit margin. On the other hand, the company guarantees the collection of all the produce with its river fleet, which would otherwise not be collected and subsequently sold.
This support is essential to increase the income of this community and create better conditions for its development.

Environmental

Manufacturing operations

In our manufacturing operations, we have implemented practices and processes that enable us to minimise our environmental impact and promote sustainability at all stages of our products' value chain.

Reducing our Environmental and Energy Footprint

When we built our factory three years ago, we made a significant investment in cutting-edge technology that would enable us to reduce our environmental impact and achieve energy efficiency. The factory has been carefully designed to maximise resource efficiency in areas such as material handling, energy consumption and operability.

Reduced environmental impact

We use CO2 technology for variable speed refrigeration, which can reduce energy consumption by up to 30% compared to conventional systems.

We have an effective thermal insulation system and air drying systems on the chamber doors to minimise the impact of inlets and outlets, resulting in a reduction in cold loss of around 20%.

For industrial steam generation, our equipment allows a significant reduction in gas compared to conventional equipment.

Energy efficiency

We are committed to energy efficiency at every stage of the manufacturing process. In addition to adapting all processes to maximise productivity while minimising energy consumption, all internal and external lighting uses LED technology. On the path to clean energy, we have planned a significant investment to implement a photovoltaic green energy production plant by 2025. With this initiative, we initially plan to generate 60% of our consumption needs from renewable sources, contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable environment.
